Announcing a New Charity for Racing’s Night of Champions

NSW Racehorse Owners’ Association is very pleased to announce the partnering with Spinal Cord Injuries Australia (SCIA), the new charity for our flagship event, Racing’s Night of Champions 2019.

The organisation has particular relevance to the racing industry. Many of our jockeys, track riders and ground staff suffer devastating spinal injuries.

Tye Angland is currently receiving rehabilitation and ongoing peer support through SCIA and has welcomed news of the partnership between NSW Racehorse Owners’ Association and Spinal Cord Injuries Australia to raise funds for its ongoing work.

Spinal Cord Injuries Australia is a ‘for purpose’ organisation, established over fifty years ago to advance the rights of people living with disability.

SCIA provides a range of services to help people lead more independent lives, including Peer Support, Information, Accommodation, Advocacy, NDIS Support, Social Enterprise, Employment and Exercise Rehabilitation.

SCIA has over 2,000 members, over one third of its staff live with disability and two thirds of the SCIA Board themselves have a spinal cord injury.

Please save the date, Thursday 15 August 2019 for Racing’s Night of Champions. We look forward to not only celebrating New South Wales’ Champions for the 2018/19 racing season, but also providing much needed support for this worthy charity.

Visit www.scia.org.au for more information on their work.
