The awards are to be presented at a prestigious charity evening themed “Celebrating the Best” in the Royal Randwick Ballroom on 18 August 2016.  Other awards to be presented on the night include the Sydney Strapper of the Year, the T J Smith Award, the George Moore Award, the Theo Green Award, the Bart Cummings Medal and the “big one”, the Tab.com.au NSW Champion Horse of the Year.

The NSWROA Industry Recognition Award (a special award to honour an outstanding contribution made to the industry) is yet another highlight on the night.  This award has only been presented on four occasions previously.  The inaugural winner of the award was Brother Dan Stafford in 2008, Ian Craig received the honour in 2009, Wendy Walter accepted the award for her late husband Guy and herself in 2014 whilst Ken Callander and John Tapp were the worthy recipients last year.

We are proud to again be supporting the Prince of Wales Hospital Foundation (POWHF) as our charity of choice for this year’s event.  POWHF is an established charitable organisation supporting and promoting research, education, health promotion and patient care for and at the Prince of Wales Hospital Randwick.  We encourage everyone to “dig deep” to help this very worthwhile cause.

Without giving too much away about the night, some of the wonderful items that will feature in the Monster and Silent Auctions will include a trip for two people to Royal Ascot in 2017, some fantastic jewellery, an exquisite EQUUS sculpture, art works, fashion items and accessories, fine dining and cultural options, family prizes and some experiences that will have your heart racing.  There will also be a raffle conducted on the night as well as a “lucky door prize” being awarded.

The 2016 Racing’s Night of Champions Awards will again be televised “live” on Sky Thoroughbred Central on the Foxtel platform, and also internationally by our exclusive media partner Sky Racing, with highlights of the night also being shown across all  Sky Racing channels.

Our wonderful sponsors for this year’s event are Tab.com.au, Racing NSW, Sky Racing, Emirates, the Australian Turf Club, Gow-Gates Insurance Brokers, Whitby Bloodstock, New Zealand Bloodstock, Ambassador Travel Services, Inglis, Carrazzo Consulting, International Animal Health Products, Jirsch Sutherland and De Bortoli Wines.

At the great price of $220 per head Racing’s Night of Champions is the best value night out you can have.  So if you haven’t already done so, reserve your place now at a truly fantastic night. Tickets are selling fast, so BOOK NOW to avoid disappointment.

Our congratulations to all nominees – every nominee is a champion in what has been yet another exceptional year of racing.
