Owner Race Day Attendance Deemed a Success

The ATC welcomed back owners on Saturday 6 June at Royal Randwick, under strict Covid-19 protocols.

The next meeting to welcome owners will be Saturday 13 June at Rosehill Gardens, when the ATC has also indicated the return of a limited number of ATC members via dining packages. Depending on the control of Covid-19 and customer demand, the general public and bookmakers are slated to be welcomed back to the track as of August 1.

Owners with runners were sent an email on acceptances with instructions on how to attend the meeting.

Here is an excerpt from the email received by owners:

“The Australian Turf Club is pleased to facilitate the return of Owners with a runner at Royal Randwick Racecourse this Saturday 6 June. Racehorse Owners will also be given the first opportunity to purchase special sit-down dining and hospitality packages which will allow those patrons to attend all races this Saturday. Those who do not purchase sit-down dining are able to reserve a table to watch their horse’s race from a designated space in the Grandview Restaurant. Owners will be required to l vacate the location post-race to allow incoming Owners to attend. Details and booking information are as follows; Option 1 – Lunch and beverages in the Chairman’s Club Presented by Bentley for $240 per person (maximum of 6 people per booking) where guests will be able to stay for the duration of the raceday. Option 2 – Should you not wish to purchase seated dining, complimentary seating and table for an Owner and one guest will be available in the Grandview Restaurant. Owners will be able to purchase food and beverage on the day from a select menu. Owners will be required to remain seated at their designated table and to vacate the racecourse within 2 races after their horse has raced. Please note due to NSW Government Public Health Orders, places are strictly limited and bookings are essential, so secure your place today to be one of the first back on track. Click here to find out more about Owners Dining and the Owners Reserve Please note Owners of horses at Saturday’s meeting must adhere to strict NSW Government Public Health Orders which govern new protocols and procedures at Sydney racecourses. These conditions include, but are not limited to: Owners will have restricted access to the designated area they reserve and must remain seated for the duration of their time at the racecourse, except to access restrooms and betting facilities. Those who do not purchase sit-down dining will be encouraged to watch their horse’s race from the Grandview Restaurant and then leave the racecourse to allow more Owners to attend designated areas unless they have a second runner on the day. Owners will not have access to the Theatre of the Horse, Raceday Horse Stalls, Owners Enclosure or Mounting yard areas. Owners must adhere to social distancing rules and regulations in place, and must respect staff. Table service for drinks will be in operation in these venues. A cashless venue will be in operation. Australian Turf Club will install two body temperature thermal imaging cameras to monitor the health of patrons as they enter Royal Randwick on Saturday. First and last name as well as mobile number will be required to add you to security list to admit entry into the course on the day. Owners and their guest must have a valid Moshtix digital ticket to enter the racecourse. Digital ticket along with further operational guidelines in line with NSW Government Public Health Orders and information regarding entry points and parking will be sent on Friday, 5 June 2020 to those Owners who have made a booking.
